Target Credit Card - Is It All That? |

If you use Google to search for the term “Target Credit Card”, you would not find any specific information relating to this credit card at first glance. If you use the search term “Target Visa Credit Card” however, the result would be more specific and by navigating to the Target credit card services link, you are presented with everything you need to know about the Target credit card. Here is the information that I found.
Features of the Target credit card:
Target offers a Target Visa card and a general Target or store card. The APR on the Target visa card ranges from 13.24% - 22.24% based on your credit profile. The card is free to acquire as there are no annual fees and the grace period is not less than 25 days. You can use this card wherever the VISA sign is displayed.
With the Target card however, the APR is 24.24% and the grace period is not less than 28 days. This card can only be used at Target and Target.com.
The above rates and grace periods are about average for the industry, but what makes the Target credit cards special is what you can do with them.
Benefits:
When you apply for or open a REDaccount, you would be considered for the Target Visa card, but if you do not qualify for this, you would then be considered for the Target store card.
Either way Target states they will mail you a certificate immediately so you can enjoy 10% off shopping at Target and 10% off an entire purchase at Target.com.
Target Rewards:
When you use your RED card as the Target Credit cards are called, you earn one point for every dollar you spend at Target and one point for every two dollars spent on other purchases and from my experience this is quite generous compared to other rewards credit cards available on the market.
In addition, another 10% off shopping certificate is mailed when you accumulate 1000 points and you can earn a certificate each time you reach that figure, but this is limited to maximum of one certificate per month. The rest of your points are rolled over to your next statement.
Pharmacy Rewards:
When you fill you prescriptions at Target Pharmacy using your Target credit card, after the tenth prescription you earn 10% off shopping at Target. You can enroll for this program in store, online or via the phone; all the details are found on the website.
Charitable Option:
Target gives you the opportunity to give back to the community while shopping for yourself. With the Take Charge of Education program you can choose a school and Target would donate 1% of all your Target purchases and 0.5% of all your other purchases to the nominated school.
Account Management:
From home, the office or on the road, you can access your account to view activity and manage your information. This is quite convenient for the busy American.
Target also has safety features to help protect your balances should you lose your job and they take extra steps to inform you of how to protect your self from identity theft.
Overall this card seems to have it all. Good benefits, the feel good factor and provision for your safety all neatly combined in one credit card. In reviewing the details of what was offered, I would say this credit card is right on target.
