Sears Credit Cards Can Make Shopping Easier
A lot of people think that Sears credit cards are a thing of the
past, but this is not true. It used to be that a person was not able
to make a purchase at Sears with a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or
American Express card.
It frustrated a lot of people, and getting Sears credit cards was
not that easy. A lot of people were turned down because they had
poor credit or because they were young and they had very little
credit.
When the store started taking major credit cards it started to
get more business, mostly from people who wanted to shop there but
could only do so if they paid cash or wrote a check. A lot of these
people, though, still wanted to get the credit card offered by
Sears. They are easier to get now than they were in the past, and
the fact that a lot more people have major credit cards today makes
it easier for these people to be accepted for Sears cards, as well.
Why Would I Want A Sears Card When I Have Major
Credit Cards?
That depends on you. Not everyone would want this card if they
have other ways to pay for Sears merchandise, but many people still
do. They still feel that there is prestige associated with Sears,
and there are other benefits:
- No annual fee
- Competitive interest rate for a department store
card
- You can save money off of your first purchase if
you apply in the store
- Special mailings for people who own Sears cards,
notifying them of sales, etc.
- Generous credit lines
There are also sometimes special sales and other offerings that
are addressed only to Sears cardholders, where they have a chance to
save extra money. This is naturally very important to the people who
have these cards. The Sears credit cards, like most department store
credit cards, generally have a higher interest rate than major
credit cards, but this is to be expected.
Who Qualifies For Sears Credit Cards?
Not everyone can get this card, even though it has become easier.
Usually, a person has to have a pretty good credit rating. Another
thing that a person needs is an established credit record. A very
young person with virtually no credit usually can’t get a card from
Sears because there is not enough credit history for the company to
feel comfortable extending credit to that person.
This is unfortunate if you are that person, but it is also a
business decision made by the company that backs Sears credit cards,
and is certainly not a personal reflection on the person who
applied. Even people with somewhat shaky credit can certainly work
to improve their rating so that they can get the benefits of this
credit card.
Having department store cards can be very convenient, especially
for people who shop with a particular company or business very
often.
