Wachovia Credit Card Review
When visiting the Wachovia website, it takes some carefully thought out
navigation before you arrive at the credit card information. Once on the
Wachovia credit card page you are given information on the two credit cards
offered by Wachovia.
The first card is the Wachovia credit card. This is a simple and straight
forward credit card and there isnt much offered in terms of rewards. The
features of this card include:
No annual fee
0% fixed APR introductory offer on balance transfers for six billing cycles.
No balance transfer fee if using the Promotional Convenience Checks within six
months of account opening.
Attractive purchase rates ranging from Prime + 1.99% to 11.99%.
Automatically waived late fee once every 12-month period
Automatically waived over limit fee once every 12-month period
24-hour assistance from a Wachovia credit card specialist
0% Liability for any unauthorized purchases on your card
A safety net. Just link this card to your Wachovia Checking, Savings or other
accounts for a no-fee overdraft protection.
Based on the fact that Wachovia waives one late and over limit fee once every
twelve months, this card seems to cater for applicants with less than perfect
credit history. The main feature of the card is the ability to transfer balances
which can only be done using convenience checks. The minimum you can transfer is
$100 and the total transfers must be no more than your credit limit.
There are better balance transfer credit cards on the market so you might want
to compare other offers as well.
The second card offered by Wachovia is the VISA card with Possibilities Rewards.
This card has all the benefits of the standard Wachovia credit card and the
following extras:
Earn reward points with every purchase dollar spent.
Combine your Possibilities Rewards along with the points you earn on your
Wachovia Visaฎ Check Card enrolled in Visa Extras.
Choose the reward from items such as travel, gifts, dining discounts, cash
back and more. You can redeem points at stores such as JCPenney, GAP, Sephora
and many more locations.
Online access makes managing and redeeming rewards easy. Points are earned
based on purchases and the number of points you earn is dependant on the type of
card you qualify for:
Earn two points per dollar for Classic with Rewards
Earn four points per dollar for Platinum with Rewards
Earn six points per dollar for Signature
This is as much information as Wachovia would provide without having to log into
your customer account.
This credit card seems quite basic compared to other rewards credit cards
available that offer 12 month 0% APRs on balance transfer and purchases, bonus
points for signing up and double rewards when you purchase in certain
categories.
To apply for a Wachovia credit card you must receive an offer by post or email.
Alternatively if you have an account with Wachovia, you can log into the online
service center using your user name and password and apply from there.
